FALL / WINTER 2023 “SUBLIME BEAUTY”
“I like to explore the dichotomy of things and engage with history and create meaningful design from disparate elements.”
For FW23, ASHLYN Creative Director, Ashlynn Park turned her eye to the life and history of the 16th century. The attire and activities of the court, in battle and at play were studied with a particular interest in the aesthetic and identity of the prince.
Experimenting with material, proportion and shape - Park mixed concepts and elements with her design language and core values.
The new season’s color palette is subdued. Soft shades of gray, ivory, oatmeal and sand, sophisticated white, black and navy. Materials include sumptuous brocades, floral jacquards, leather, wool cashmeres, silk double georgette, cotton dobby and a new offering of knitwear..
Park crossed boundaries of time, space and gender exploring 16th century Tudor and Elizabethan style - court and military dress. The result is a collection that is both refined and romantic.
Park continually perfects the pattern designs she has created, developing new interpretations through research and experimentation. She plays with volumes and shapes, mixing masculine and feminine references - finding new forms of beauty born of the past while imagining the future.
New York gallerist Cristina Grajales is a source of inspiration to Park. Grajales, an early advocate of ASHLYN, has extended her visionary guidance and collaboration since the designer’s first season two years ago. A portrait of the gallerist is featured in the new season’s photography campaign. Grajales’ bold and playful elegance is celebrated in the series.
Above all, Park strives to create an enduring wardrobe that pierces the heart and awakens delight in anyone who wears ASHLYN.
